Tips for Long Lasting Eyeliner

Tip #1

Waterproof vs. Water Resistant

Always pay attention and read the labels! Waterproof means the product can be submerged in water for long periods of time. Water resistant means the product can shed water however they don't tend to last very long. Whether you are at the beach/pool this summer or just live in a hot area your best bet for long lasting eyeliner is to go for something waterproof rather than water resistant.

Tip #2

Gel Liner

Gel liner compared to liquid and pencil linersl tends to have a longer wear time. And it can be used for the upper and lower lash line as well as your waterline (inside the bottom and upper lash line). Use a paintbrush with a long thin tip for easy application on your upper lash line. For your bottom lash line and your waterlines take one of your soft pencil liners and dip it into the gel liner and apply. This method gives you not only precision but more control.

Tip #3

Set With Eyeshadow

No matter what type of liner you use anything with a liquid, gel or crayon consistency set it with a matching eyeshadow. Simply after you apply your eyeliner take a thin slanted eyebrow brush and dip it in a matching color eyeshadow and apply over the line. This can be done anywhere where you apply your eyeliner.

Tip #4

Use a Primer

Primers are wonderful when it comes to keeping your makeup in place and eye primers are no exception. Apply primer before any eye product. Just make sure you buy a primer that works with your skin type. There are primers designed for dry and oily lids.

Review: URBAN DECAY PERVERSION MASCARA + BONUS (NEW)

PACKAGING:

The Subversion eyelash primer comes in a white tube. This is the sample size but the original size has the exact same packaging.

The Perversion mascara comes in a chubby sleek gray tube. It is a bit on the heavier side when compared to other mascara packaging but not so heavy that you couldn't easily travel with it.

Perversion Mascara

Subversion Primer

Both wands are long however the Perversion mascara has a much chubby wand.

FORMULATION:

Subversion Primer:

I have never been a huge fan of mascara primers. I always find them useless but because these products came out together it only made sense to try them together. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this. It applied pretty easily and dried very fast leaving no gray tint when the mascara was applied on top of it. This is my number one problem with mascara primers. Mascara primers not only help your mascara last they also volumize and lengthen your lashes. However as much I as enjoyed this product, I personally won't repurchase this just because the mascara works pretty great on its own. However if you do have troublesome lashes definitely give this a try!

Perversion Mascara:

I didn't expect too much from this mascara because I personally never have had a good experience with Urban Decay's mascaras. But boy was I surprised! This has become one of my top 10 favorite mascaras. It is both super lengthening and volumizing and that is a lot coming from me since I have tiny Asian lashes. The wear time is also pretty great. With the primer this mascara does not budge and stay on pretty much until you want it off. I even wore this in extreme heat and had no smudging problems. However even without the primer this stuff lasts pretty great on its own. The formulation is not too wet or too dry.

Where to Purchase:

Available at Urban Decay Online

Can be purchased individually as well as this set.

Set= $22.00 (Full size Perversion mascara + deluxe sample of Subversion primer)

Individually both can be purchased for $22

NEW!!! Urban Decay Naked FLUSHED Palette in Streak

Urban Decay released their 1st Naked Flushed Palette for the face last year. The palette contains a bronzer, highlighter and blush. This summer they have released 3 additional shades to the collection. While I am in love with all the palettes my favorite one out of all of them is the Streak palette.

Packaging:
The packaging for the new palettes are the exact same to the original Naked Flushed palette. It comes in a tan/gold plastic case that comes with a nice mirror. These palettes are super convenient for traveling since it has your bronzer, blush and highlighter all in one.

Formulation:

Bronzer- Medium brown color w/a peachy gold undertone w/a satin finish
The bronzer is very pretty and soft and great for all over the face for a nice glow however it really isn't pigmented enough for contouring.

Highlighter- Peachy champagne (shimmery)
This highlighter is amazing. It is SUPER pigmented and brightens up your whole face. It is also pretty as an all over the lid color.

Blush-  A semi matte coral pink
Very pigmented and easy to blend

You can wear each shade by itself or mixed together.
All of these products are very long lasting wear tome 5+ hours especially with a primer underneath

You can purchase this palette and the others...

Favorite Red Lipsticks

There is nothing like a good red lipstick. Every girl needs that perfect red lip. Here are a few of my favorites.

1.) RAVISHING ROUGE (MAYBELLINE SUPER STAY 14HR LIPSTICK)- A cool tone bright matte red. Super pigmented and does last 14hrs. You might need to use a makeup remover to get it off. Because of its ability to last a long time it can get drying to definitely wear a lip balm under this.
RAVISHING ROUGE

2.)MOULIN ROUGE (MAKEUP FOREVER ROUGE ARTIST INTENSE LIPSTICK)- A vibrant red with a satin finish. This is my perfect red lipstick. It doesn't look too overwhelming and there is a hint of elegance when wearing it. Very saturated in color and doesn't feel overly dry on the lips.
MOULIN ROUGE

3.) F-BOMB (URBAN DECAY REVOLUTION LIPSTICK)- Classic "bad girl" red. This is basically the classic red lipstick our grandmothers wear but with a kick. A very sexy and edgy red perfect paired with a motorcycle jacket, dark jeans and combat boots. Very hydrating, long-lasting and super creamy.
F-BOMB

4.) SAIL LA VIE (MAC COSMETICS)- An orangey red with a satin finish. This is a very unique red with a twist. This is for those of you out there who want to be different and a bit bolder.
SAIL LA VIE

5.) RUBY WOO (MAC COSMETICS)- Vivid red with a blue undertone and a matte finish. Probably one of the best red lipsticks ever out there. This is what you would call a "little red riding hood" red. Really great for those of you will fair and light skin tones.

One side a flat shader for applying the color all over the lid and the other side a dome shape brush great for blending. Urban Decay Cosmetics and Brushes are all cruelty free.

Perfect Palette Tag

Best Packaging: THE BALM NUDE'TUDE
Pretty much all of the palettes from The Balm have great packaging. Not only sturdy but their designs for their palettes are very creative like this one for example.

Best Color Payoff: LORAC PRO PALETTE
Pretty much every single color in this palette is very well pigmented. There isn't even one eyeshadow that is slightly off with pigmentation. All very consistent.

Most Versatile: URBAN DECAY NAKED BASICS
When you first look at it it may not be anything however this little 6 eyeshadow palette has so many uses. All the colors in this palette are essential for everyday eye looks. The champagne and beige colors are great not only for an all over the lid color but can also be used to highlight under the brow bone, inner corner and even on parts of your face. There are 2 matte browns in here that are great for transition colors, blending, and defining the crease. And of course every palette needs a matte black. Not only used to create darker looks but can also be used as eyeliner. This little palette is great to use on its own for an everyday wearable look or used along with other eyeshadows to create even more fabulous looks.

Best for Travel: TOO FACED NAKED EYE PALETTE
Not only the colors are very wearable but included in this palette are 3 little notecards that give you 3 different makeup looks. Just the right amount to eyeshadows that can create dozens of looks. The packaging it small enough so it doesn't take up too much room in your luggage and can be put on a carry-on bag.

Biggest Regret: TARTE TRUE BLOOD BOX PALETTE
As much as I love the show True Blood, this palette not so much. The colors in it aren't really anything special and compared to other Tarte eyeshadow palettes these eyeshadows were a little too powdery and chalky looking on the eye. Plus the eyeliner they included was terrible. Tarte makes some pretty great products but this one wasn't one of them. (NO LONGER AVAILABLE)

Best Color Names: TOO FACED JERROD & MARY'S DELUXE CHRISTMAS PALETTE
Too Faced always has really cute names for their eyeshadows and unlike some other brands their cute names actually match with the color of the eyeshadow.

Least Used: DIOR 5 COULEURS IN MITZAH
This is a pretty expensive palette to be the least used I know... And I do love the colors in this palette however I just don't reach for it very often. I'm not a huge fan of Dior eyeshadows. Their pigmentation is very inconsistent. (NO LONGER AVAILABLE)

Most Used: URBAN DECAY NAKED PALETTE
Since I got this palette I pretty much used it in about every makeup look I do. All the neutral colors one will ever need. It has a nice combination of mattes, shimmers and satin finish eyeshadows. And since all the colors have very warm undertones it works on pretty much all skin types and eye colors.

Best Neutral Palettes

Love neutral palettes? Here are some of my favorites tried and true best neutral palettes. Enjoy xoxo

1.) Naked and Naked 2 Palettes by Urban Decay Cosmetics (Both are $52 each)

The Naked and Naked 2 Palettes are probably the #1 most talked about and most own palettes in the cosmetic world. Both palettes have a great variety of neutral colors (mostly focusing on nudes, champagnes, browns and black) that allow versatility to create dozens of looks. These are one stop shop palettes for your everyday makeup. Pretty much every neutral color you will ever need. The eyeshadows have a mix of finishes matte, satin, and shimmer. All the shadows are soft, easy to blend and very pigmented. The Naked palette contains more warm neutral colors while the Naked 2 palette contain more cooler neutrals. Each palette has 12 eyeshadows. These are pricey palettes however Urban Decay uses quality ingredients and do not test on animals. Each palette also comes with a dual ended synthetic eyeshadow brush one side is a flat shader brush for applying color over the lid and the other side is a blending brush for applying color in the crease, outer corner, and of course to blend out any harsh lines. The Naked palette also contains along with the dual ended brush a sample of Urban Decay's infamous Eyelid Primer Potion. The primer potion is applied before your eyeshadows. It keeps your eyeshadows on longer without creasing and keeps the colors vibrant all day long. The Naked 2 Palette along with the dual ended brush also comes with a sample of Lip Junkie Lipgloss in the color Naked (a pinky neutral color). So all in all you get what you pay for. These are definitely palettes you should consider in investing in if you are a fan of neutral colors or makeup in general. Trust me you will not be disappointed.

2.) Nude'tude Palette by The Balm (Generally $36 however Hautelook always has this on sell for about $15-20 at least once a month heres an invite link for Hautelook http://www.hautelook.com/short/3PiXL )

The Nude'tude Palette is very similar to the Urban Decay Palettes yet very different as well. While all the Naked palettes contain all neutral colors mainly focusing on nude, browns, and champagne colors, the Nude'tude palette contains those neutral colors and colors like pinks and gold. The shadows are very well pigmented and easy to work with and like Urban Decay The Balm does not test on animals and uses high quality ingredients for their products. The Nude'tude palette contains mostly matte eyeshadows with only a few shimmer and satin finishes. There are 12 shadows in all. The palette also comes with an eyeshadow brush that I personally did not care for.

3.) Lorac Pro Palette ($42)

Another popular palette in the cosmetics world. This palette comes with 16 eyeshadows with a mix of textures matte, shimmer, satin... All the shadows in the palette are very well pigmented and easy to work with. They can come off a little bit powdery to start with but once you start using them it will get better. This palette not only has a great selection of neutrals like browns and champagnes but also gold, purple, and copper colors. This palette is great for transitioning any day look into a night look.

Top Fave Fall Lip Products

Here are my top fave fall lip products. Links on where to purchase will be @ the end :) DISCLAIMER: All products were either purchased by myself or given to me as a gift and as always all opinions are my own. (Photo credit: GOOGLE)

1.) Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick F-Bomb ($22): Reds are one of my favorite lip colors to wear during the fall especially dark reds. I am absolutely in love with this lipstick. These lipsticks are incredibly moisturizing and pigmented. F-Bomb is a dark "bad-girl" red.  It has a very smooth satin finish. It is a red lipstick with some edge. If you are a fan of bold lip color then you might want to try this one out.
F-Bomb

2.) NYC Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm in the color Apple Blueberry Pie ($2.99 @ CVS): For those of you who are not big into the bold color but yet still want to wear a darker color for the fall this may be the color for you. It is a tinted plum/mauve lip balm. It is moisturizing and gives you that just bitten lip stain look with just a hint of gloss. Not to mention it smells like apples and flowers. Also works pretty much all skin tones.
Apple Blueberry Pie

3.) YSL Rouge Volupte Silky Sensual Lipstick in the color 12- Forbidden Burgundy ($34): This is probably the most expensive lipstick out of this bunch but if you are a lipstick junkie like me it might be worth it to shed out a few more dollars. YSL probably makes one of the best lipsticks EVER. They are soft, creamy, and pigmented like theres no tomorrow. This particular color is a deep burgundy plum. I recommend wearing it over a matching color or nude lipliner. Dark colors no matter what the brand will feather and bleed out of your lips. Plus lipliners help keep the color on longer and with a lipstick that has this kind of price tag keep it on as long as possible.
12- Forbidden Burgundy

4.) Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick in Cherry Bomb ($1.99): A vampy red with a burgundy undertone. This lipstick is the drugstore dupe to MAC's rebel just without the $14 price tag.
