Tips for Long Lasting Eyeliner

Tip #1

Waterproof vs. Water Resistant

Always pay attention and read the labels! Waterproof means the product can be submerged in water for long periods of time. Water resistant means the product can shed water however they don't tend to last very long. Whether you are at the beach/pool this summer or just live in a hot area your best bet for long lasting eyeliner is to go for something waterproof rather than water resistant.

Tip #2

Gel Liner

Gel liner compared to liquid and pencil linersl tends to have a longer wear time. And it can be used for the upper and lower lash line as well as your waterline (inside the bottom and upper lash line). Use a paintbrush with a long thin tip for easy application on your upper lash line. For your bottom lash line and your waterlines take one of your soft pencil liners and dip it into the gel liner and apply. This method gives you not only precision but more control.

Tip #3

Set With Eyeshadow

No matter what type of liner you use anything with a liquid, gel or crayon consistency set it with a matching eyeshadow. Simply after you apply your eyeliner take a thin slanted eyebrow brush and dip it in a matching color eyeshadow and apply over the line. This can be done anywhere where you apply your eyeliner.

Tip #4

Use a Primer

Primers are wonderful when it comes to keeping your makeup in place and eye primers are no exception. Apply primer before any eye product. Just make sure you buy a primer that works with your skin type. There are primers designed for dry and oily lids.

e.l.f Disney Good vs. Evil Beauty Book- BLOGTOBER OCTOBER 7, 2014

With the re-release of Sleeping Beauty on DVD today (before it goes into the Disney vault) I thought it was only fitting to do this review

Disney Good vs. Evil
$9.99 @ Walgreens (Exclusively and for a limited time! NOT AVAILABLE ONLINE)

PACKAGING:

-Comes in a cardboard material shaped like a book. The inside is composed of a soft foam (holds the products).

-The cover is Aurora & Malificent

-Contains 12 Eyeshadows (6 neutral shadows called Day Beauty & 6 colorful shadows called Nigh Villain), 2 lip colors, & 1 "brightening" black eyeliner.

-The Beauty Book also contains instructions on how to create the Day and Night looks

- There is a clear plastic that covers and protects the eyeshadows, it does get in the way when your are trying to get to the shadows. It can be removed by cutting it off from the palette.

-The packaging for both the lip products and eyeliner are very fragile. The caps on these products were very loose especially the liner.

FORMULATION:

Eyeshadows:

e.l.f (aka www.eyeslipsface.com) is known for their very inexpensive makeup (everything is usually under $20). From their dollar eyeshadows. blushes, and so forth e.l.f has created an empire that allows women and men to look great w/o breaking the bank.

e.l.f usually launches a couple of these Disney Beauty Books every year. Aside from Sleeping Beauty this year they also launched Ariel and Snow White themed products.

The eyeshadows in this Sleeping Beauty Beauty Book definitely depict the characters very well. The texture is very soft and smooth. The pigmentation varies among the shadows and a primer is definitely recommended. TIP: Layer the shadows on by thin layers to build the color. Do keep in mind that in order for e.l.f to keep their prices down, not everything is going to be great quality. The colors Briar Rose and Evil Fairy are the worst ones out of all the shadows. Both lack a great deal of pigmentation. Briar rose is very powdery and Evil Fairy for some reason is very streaky.

The wear time was actually very surprising. They lasted for about 5-6 hours with a primer and about 2-3 hours w/o a primer. They did crease a bit but nothing too dramatic. When I did swatches on the Night Villain shadows the shadows took a great deal of scrubbing to come off (no primer underneath).

Top Row:
Sunlight- Matte beige
Innocence- Shimmery Sand
Briar Rose- Rose w/a satin finish

Bottom Row:
Sunbeam- Golden brown w/a satin finish
Forest Beauty- Dark cocoa brown w/a hint of shimmer
Woodland- Dark brown w/a satin-matte finish

Top Row:
Sorcery- Shimmery gray/taupe
Magic Spell- Teal w/a satin finish
Evil Fairy- Matte violet purple

Bottom Row:
Hedge of Thorns- Dark Gray w/a satin finish
Green Flames- Shimmery hunter green
Black Magic- Semi matte black
Lip colors:

The lip products featured in this Beauty Book are a cross between a gloss and lipstick. The colors are super opaque however they do lose their pigmentation when blended out too much. They are very thick and messy to apply. They are not too drying but can get uncomfortable to wear for longer periods of time. I don't recommend using the doe foot application that comes with it but rather a lip brush instead.

Left:
True Loves Kiss- Fuchsia red
Right:
Betrayal- Raspberry mauve

Top: True Loves Kiss
Bottom: Betrayal

Right: Betrayal
 Eyeliner:

I was very surprised at how well this liner worked. I am not a huge fan of the pencil liners from e.l.f. They are either too hard or so soft that it makes it impossible to use.

This particular liner is known as their "brightening" liner. I for one didn't see any brightening effects however it was very pigmented and easy to apply. It is still a bit on the softer side but it smudges and creates a nice smokey effect. You can also just use it as a regular liner or even as a base for the shadows in this Beauty Book.

Tarte Holiday Kits

More holiday madness! These 2 sets are great for trying out Tarte's most popular products without paying the hefty price tag. Tarte is an all natural and cruelty free makeup line. Their products are phenomenal and keeps you looking good with good ingredients.

Tarte Thoughtful Treasures Deluxe Best Sellers Set ($19 for all three products retail if purchased full sized $90+)

1.) Amazonian Clay 12-hour blush in the color Thankful 1.5gAmazonian Clay 12-hour blushes are very pigmented and easy to blend. They last a really long time on the skin with or without primer. This particular color in Thankful is a beautiful matte peachy pink. It gives a natural looking flush to the cheeks that is not too overwhelming. The retail price on this just by itself is $26.

Thankful

2.) Pure Maracuja Oil 7mL (Purple bottle to the right)- A nutrient rich oil that contains vitamin C and essential fatty acids that help hydrate sensitive, dry, and acne prone skin. It leaves the skin nicely toned and soft without the greasy feel that most skin oils leave. It also has anti-aging and healing properties that give the skin a firmer texture, smoother brighter looking skin and most importantly does not cause any breakouts. It is truly a miracle all in one product. I been using this on myself for awhile and it has kept my breakouts at bay and made my skin smoother and a lot more brighter. This is recommended mostly to people with dry skin however because it has thinner consistency than other skin oils and easily absorbed into the skin it also works well on oily skins (no it will not make your skin more oily). The retail price on this just by itself is $46.

3.) Energy Lip Surgence Skintutive Lip Tint 1.75g (Pink packaging to the right)- A lightly tinted balm that feels very smooth and hydrating on the lips. The product responds to your skin's natural pH and energy giving you your very own personalized pink shade just for you. Like other Tarte Lip Surgence products this one also has a menthol scent to it. The retail price on this just by itself is $24.

Tarte Stop and Stare 6-piece eyeliner and lash set ($39 for all 6 products retail separately a $115 value)

1.) Full size 3 Skinny Smolder Eyes Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liners in the colors Onyx (black), Purple Garnet (brown with a bit of purple undertone), Azurite Green (forest green)- This is a follow up product of the original Smolder Eyes Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liners but in a skinny form. These liners are nicely pigmented and do not budge whatsoever. They have a very creamy texture which enables you to just glide these liners on your eye effortlessly. They can also be blended out for a smoky effect. Each liner on its own retails for $19 without purchase of this kit. Certain colors like Onyx for example are vegan.

2.) Full size 2 Smolder Eyes Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liners in the colors Rose Gold and Taupe- A versatile product that can be used either as a liner or cream eyeshadow. These pencils are very smooth and easy to blend and also very waterproof, Personally I do not see these as eyeliners due to the size but they work really well as eyeshadows either on their own or under another eyeshadow. They are also very pigmented. These liners have a smudger at the end to blend out the liner if needed. These retail on their own for $22 each.

3.) Deluxe sample size Lights, Camera, Flashes Mascara (Gold Tube in package)- A lengthening mascara that curls and magnifies your lashes by 752%. This mascara does lengthen very well and gives a bit of volume as well. Overall it is a decent mascara the only problem I have with it is the brush. For a mascara brush it is very hard and the bristles tend to poke the eye while applying. If you don't mind hard brushes and aren;t as klutzy as I am this mascara will probably do you very well.

DISCLAIMER: WORKING IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY AWHILE BACK I WAS FORTUNATELY ENOUGH TO DEVELOP GREAT RELATIONSHIPS WITH COSMETIC BRANDS. I WAS SENT THESE PRODUCTS FOR CONSIDERATION. I AM NOT BEING PAID OR FORCED TO WRITE ABOUT THESE PRODUCTS. ALL OPINIONS AND PHOTOS ARE MY OWN.
