Si's Life: Chinese New Year

Hey y'all! I just wanted to take a break from my normal blogs and share a bit of my life with you guys. This last weekend was Chinese New Years. This year is the year of the horse. Some fun facts those who are born in the year of the horse are known to be popular, clever, good-looking and very talented. They also love attention and refuse to fail at whatever they do. However they can be a bit superficial and very impatient. They are very independent and stubborn which can be difficult to get along with sometimes.

Here are some pictures from my family's celebration. Hope you all enjoy and happy new year!!!
The traditional new year's food: DUMPLINGS!!!
What is different with new year's dumplings is that they are filled with various "things" such as apples, peanuts, candy, and money (quarters). Each "thing" symbolizes an idea for example if you get a quarter it means you will be wealthy. And don't worry the money was heavily sterilized before going into the dumpling.

More food

Ba Bo Fan: This is a speciality of my mom. It is black sticky rice shaped into a cake and is filled with dried fruit.

Pig's Feet: Yes, I know it sounds disgusting but it actually is delicious. Americans use pig hooves when cooking collard greens.

I'm not sure how to say this but it is a sticky rice cake. The white ones are just plain and the red ones are made from red beans.
