Spring Break '14 Essentials

Well it is that time of the year again... SPRING BREAK!!! Whether you are traveling or just staying at home here are a few essentials to help you relax and enjoy your well deserved break :D

1.) Sunscreen: I cannot stress enough how important sunscreen is. This is something that you should be wearing everyday no matter what man or woman but is especially important during spring break.. Sunscreen not only prevents sun burns but also protects from skin cancer, premature aging, and sun spots. Trust me you don't want to go back to school or work looking like an oompa lompa.

TIP: For those makeup lovers out there, if you tend to forget to put on sunscreen, just pick a foundation with a SPF and you are good to go!

Favorite Sunscreens for FACE:
Clinique Sun SPF 30 Face Cream (Click to purchase)

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen SPF 100 (Click to purchase)

Favorite Sunscreens for BODY:
Coppertone Sport Continuous Spray SPF 15 (Click to purchase)

2.) Swimsuit: Of course you can't enjoy spring break without a swimsuit suit!

Favorite Places for swimsuits:

Victoria's Secret (Click to purchase): Victoria's Secret makes one of the best swimsuits EVER. The material is very sturdy and last for a really long time. And the best part no matter if you small boobs or large boobs or something in between you won't have any trouble since most of their swimsuits are measure by bra size. Keep in mind because of the quality of their suits, they are a bit pricey but well worth the money.

Target (Click to purchase): Target always has a great selection of swimsuits all year around plus they have a bunch of different styles and designs and are very AFFORDABLE!

3.) Beach read: I don't know about you guys but I personally love a good book to read whether at the beach or at the pool with a tall glass of lemonade by my side. Reading always seems to relax me and reading something other than school books is a great change.

Favorite reads for the beach:
Can You Keep a Secret By Sophia Kinsella (Click to purchase)

Gone Girl By Gillian Flynn (Click to purchase)

4.) A BIG TOTE BAG: This one is pretty obvious. A nice big tote bag that fits everything from your towel to your bathing suit, iPod, book and so on...

Favorite ToTe Bags:
Land's End Striped Tote Bag (Click to purchase)

POLYVORE (Click to purchase)

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains vs. Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms vs. Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balms

Revlon recently released two different lip products into their collection both chubby lip crayons. The first one is a matte lip balm and the second one is a lacquer lip balm. Last year they also released their infamous Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain which is also a lip crayon product. So what is the difference between these three if any? Hopefully this post will help break it down.

REVLON JUST BITTEN KISSABLE BALM STAINS:

 Swatches from left to right:
Lovesick (020): Cool-toned fuchsia
Romantic (045): Apple Red
Darling (010): Cool-toned baby lavender

PACKAGING: Comes in a plastic chubby crayon packaging that has a twist up bottom. The packaging is very similar to Clinique Chubby Sticks.

FORMULATION: Balm stains provide a sheer tint of color to your lips. These stains are pigmented enough to give you color but not so much that it becomes too overwhelming hence the name "stain". It applies very smoothly and feels very light and moisturizing on the lips. In terms of wear time due to the staining effect it can last between anywhere from 4-8 hours depending on eating and drinking throughout the day. These also have a nice minty scent to them like the Tarte Lip Surgence Lip Stains.

REVLON COLORBURST MATTE BALMS:

Swatches from left to right:
Unapologetic (210): Matte Pinky coral
Elusive (205): Matte Mid-toned pink

PACKAGING: Comes in the same crayon packaging as the stain balms but with a matte overcoat.

FORMULATION: Just like the name, these are MATTE balms. There is no shimmer but some of them do have a bit of a satin finish. They apply on very smoothly and are not drying at all for a matte lip product. The wear time is around 4-5 hours. I do recommend wearing a lip balm under it if you have really dry lips.

REVLON COLORBURST LACQUER BALMS:

Swatches from left to right:
Whimsical (115):Purple toned pink
Coquette (110): Peony Pink
Ingenue (145): Light caramel nude

PACKAGING: Same as the other lip balms mentioned above

FORMULATION: These lacquer balms have a nice sheen to them kind of like apply a gloss over a lip stick but with a longer wear time (4-5 hours). These don't feather out throughout the day and are also very moisturizing.

Current Fashion Obsessions Spring 2014

1.) Crop Tops- I wasn't really on the bandwagon when crop tops first came out. Why would anyone pay money for half a shirt? However, over the last couple of months I somehow have gotten completely obsessed. They are so easy to wear and because there are so many styles and designs for crop tops right now, there is something for everyone. If you are a little more body conscious and don't want to expose too much skin just pair your crop top with high-waisted shorts, jeans, or skirts. This also helps make crop tops more daytime appropriate.

Favorite Crop Tops at the moment:

2.) Printed Pants- Living in Florida it is really annoying to wear pants. Between the humidity and ridiculous hear I wish it was okay to just not wear pants (jk... well not really....). Unfortunately public nudity is unacceptable, so the better and more fashionable alternative are printed pants or some of you out there like to call them trousers. These pants are many from a very thin cotton and are very breezy and are so frickin comfortable. They also come in many different colors and fun prints. You can dress them up or down. They are so versatile and can be worn for any occasion.

Favorite Printed Pants "Trousers" at the moment:

3.) Loafers- The weather has been pretty bipolar down here in Florida. Everyday you never know what to expect. This little problem can make choosing a pair of shoes pretty difficult. Loafers are a great alternative from sandals and sneakers. With sandals there is always the possibly of rain and your feet get wet and dirty however sneakers is just too darn hot. Loafers are easy to slip into and are very comfortable to wear all day. They are not only school appropriate but also work appropriate for those of you who don't want to wear heels all the time. They cover just the right amount of feet without suffocating them.

Favorite Loafers at the moment:

4.) Skater Skirts- I am not a big skirt or dress person however I don't know what is it about skater skirts. They are easy and fun to wear and you can wear them in soooo many ways. I been pairing my skater skirts with crop tops and this is pretty much what I have been living in for the past month (don't judge)

Si's Life: Chinese New Year

Hey y'all! I just wanted to take a break from my normal blogs and share a bit of my life with you guys. This last weekend was Chinese New Years. This year is the year of the horse. Some fun facts those who are born in the year of the horse are known to be popular, clever, good-looking and very talented. They also love attention and refuse to fail at whatever they do. However they can be a bit superficial and very impatient. They are very independent and stubborn which can be difficult to get along with sometimes.

Here are some pictures from my family's celebration. Hope you all enjoy and happy new year!!!
The traditional new year's food: DUMPLINGS!!!
What is different with new year's dumplings is that they are filled with various "things" such as apples, peanuts, candy, and money (quarters). Each "thing" symbolizes an idea for example if you get a quarter it means you will be wealthy. And don't worry the money was heavily sterilized before going into the dumpling.

Traditional Chinese New Year's Candy

Oranges

More food

Ba Bo Fan: This is a speciality of my mom. It is black sticky rice shaped into a cake and is filled with dried fruit.

Pig's Feet: Yes, I know it sounds disgusting but it actually is delicious. Americans use pig hooves when cooking collard greens.

I'm not sure how to say this but it is a sticky rice cake. The white ones are just plain and the red ones are made from red beans.

Drugstore Dupes Part 2

Hey y'all! Back again for another drugstore dupes on some favorite high-end beauty products. If you guys want to save some money while still looking fabulous at the same time look no further.

1.) MAC Girl About Town (Amplified) Lipstick
DRUGSTORE DUPE: Revlon Color Burst Lipstick in Fuchsia (030): BRIGHT FUCHSIA (Cool-toned) This is a pretty dead on dupe. Both have very similar textures (the MAC one is a bit thinner) and great pigmentation (the Revlon one actually is more pigmented). The only major difference is that MAC Girl About Town has a vanilla scent to it like most MAC lipsticks. FUN FACT: MAC Girl About Town is actually one of Katy Perry's favorite lipsticks.

PRICE BREAKDOWN:

2.) Kevyn Aucoin The Solid Foundation
Drugstore Dupe: Maybelline FIT Shine-Free Foundation: The texture on both products are very similar. Both are light-weight and blends easily into the skin. The Kevyn Aucoin one has a light fresh scent to it. In terms of wear time both are pretty close lasting around 6-8 hours and great for both oily and dry skin. Maybelline has a bigger color range.

3.) NARS Blush in Desire
Drugstore Dupe: Milani Delizioso Pink: Both are very pigmented and soft in texture. I did find the Milani blush a bit easier to blend than the NARS blush. In the pictures the Milani looks a lighter however on the skin you can't really tell the difference. The perfect pink blush for everyday every season.

Deals of the Week!

Hello y'all here are some fabulous deals I have found for this week. Hope you guys enjoy and remember these deals are for a limited time only so take advantage! xoxo

1.) Steve Madden Petra Sandal $24.94!!!!! OMFG when I saw these on sale for the price I literally almost dropped dead. These shoes originally retail for $99!!!! These are black leather sandal like heels. The heel itself is 3 1/2 inches and very chunky so nothing too crazy. Personally I had no trouble wearing these but if you are inexperienced with heels especially leather heels I would stay away from these. The fit very snug around your foot and tight but it keeps the shoe on. This deal is only available online at DSW.

2.) Aeropostale: 25% off a new pair of jeans when you donate a pair of old ones. Not only this is a great deal but you will also be doing some good. Aeropostale does this once a year so it is a great time to stock up on some jeans. Aeropostale's jeans are fairly inexpensive and good quality so with the 25 % off you do get what you pay for. (In-store promotion only)

3.) Aeropostale: 50% off throughout the store (In store promotion): Along with the jeans coupon you will definitely save some money here. Aeropostale has definitely stepped up their game in the last few months so its no longer that store we shopped at in junior high.
